Tips for making the Keto Pumpkin Pie Martini
In addition to the actual ingredients, you’ll need some ice and a cocktail shaker, naturally. I have to confess that I didn’t have a cocktail shaker in my first experiments, so I just used a tightly closed bottle. But a cocktail shaker will make your life so much easier — and you’ll look like a pro if you prepare some cocktails to your guests using a cocktail shaker rather than a bottle! So, go and get one now.
Once you’ve got your cocktail shaker, add all the ingredients, so the vanilla-flavored vodka…
…pumpkin puree (100 % pumpkin, that is, no sweetened pie fillings but just real pumpkin)…
…pumpkin pie spice…
…and the liquid stevia.
Fill the shaker with ice.
Close the lid tightly.
Shake vigorously about ten times (preferably over your shoulder)…
…or until the shaker frosts up (if you use a metallic shaker).
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass (or martini glass).
Garnish as you wish, for example with whipped cream, cinnamon stick, vanilla stick, or some sprinkled pumpkin pie spice. Anyway, it’s a good idea to add a stick so that you can stir the drink while enjoying it to prevent the pumpkin pie spice fall to the bottom of the glass.

My Keto Pumpkin Pie Martini experiments
It was really close I couldn’t have posted anything to my blog this week. Namely, I was working relentlessly on my Finnish keto-vegan book and finally got it submitted to the publisher. Hooray! And, because I had been working so hard, I caught a nasty bug, whatever virus, that caused me a headache and nauseous feeling. I was just lying in bed for three days. Luckily, I recovered pretty fast and thought I still manage to post a recipe here on my blog. But I didn’t have too much time left. I was thinking hard about a simple and easy recipe that would be ready just in seconds.
Drink recipes are great in the sense that they are easy to make, and they are also very satisfying. Therefore, I thought I want to develop something delicious and autumnal that you can sip at your keto Thanksgiving or any keto party — or when you just want to relax a bit.
I was pondering over something with pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice. A sweet, creamy cocktail with pumpkin sounded like an ultimate autumnal drink — like pumpkin pie in a glass! After some thinking, I wanted to make a martini-type drink with vodka. The name “Keto Pumpkin Pie Martini” hit my head. It just sounded perfect!
Next, I had to think of the ingredients. At least I needed pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice but definitely some booze as well. Regular vodka sounded a bit too boring, so I decided to go with vanilla-flavored vodka. I also needed some sweetener. Liquid stevia sounded like the ideal sweetener to this drink, it would dissolve much better than — let’s say — powdered erythritol. I was also thinking of vanilla-flavored stevia, but since I already had vanilla-flavored vodka, I didn’t want the vanilla flavor to become too overpowering.
I know some traditional pumpkin martinis use cream liqueur. But since those are terrifyingly sugary, they are a definite no-no on a keto diet. Therefore, I decided to grab some heavy cream to get that ultimate creaminess I was aiming at.
After calculating the amounts of the ingredients, I decided to do my first experiment with 1.5 fl oz (45 ml) vanilla-flavored vodka, 2 oz (60 g) heavy cream, 1 oz (30 g) pumpkin puree, 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, and 10 drops liquid stevia.
I added all the ingredients into a bottle (as I didn’t have a cocktail shaker at that point yet, and I had lost my old one about ten years ago) and shook the bottle vigorously. Excitedly, I poured the cocktail into a martini glass. I was a bit afraid if the heavy cream would get separated, but it didn’t: the consistency of the cocktail was perfectly smooth, a bit thick and creamy. Very promising!
Eagerly, I lifted the glass to my lips. I could smell the pleasant scent of pumpkin pie spice and vanilla. I took a small sip and held the drink in my mouth for a couple of seconds. Yummo! The flavor was fantastic! Just like a liquid — and boozy — version of pumpkin pie. I thought it could have been a tad sweeter, so I added 5 more drops of liquid stevia. Now, the flavor was just perfect. This creamy, autumnal martini was such a pleasure to drink! This will be my definite fall time go-to drink (in addition to the Rich Sugar-Free Eggnog recipe in my Low Sugar, So Simple book!).

Tips for variation
You can vary this recipe in many ways. Just replace the vanilla-flavored vodka with some other carb-free booze, like rum or cognac. I guess it won’t be called martini anymore, but it will be still delicious!
You can also play with different flavored stevias. There has been pumpkin spice stevia in the market (hopefully there still is!), so you can omit the pumpkin pie spice and use pumpkin spice stevia to sweeten the drink. It also makes the consistency smoother as the pumpkin pie spice might feel a bit gritty.
For a dairy-free version, replace the heavy cream with coconut cream. The taste will become excitingly exotic!
