Hi and welcome to my blog! So great to have you here! Yes, this is my personal blog where I’m creating all the content myself. There are no fancy teams behind this stuff, nor do I have any VAs. I just love to do everything myself: recipe developing, writing, photos, social media (currently over 1 million followers across the social media channels), videos — heck, I even compose the background music myself to the recipe videos (how many bloggers can say that!)
I don’t have any pressure to “scale up” this blog and boast about huge amount of team members or collaborators like some other bloggers (if you ask me, that’s NOT what real blogging is about). So, it’s just me here, blogging to provide you with the BEST low-carb and keto recipes that I’ve carefully R&D:ed just for you. That, my friend, is genuine blogging! Feel free to say hello, I would love to hear about you — because I’m here for you (not like some other bloggers who are there only for money and profit, or just bragging the hell out of their nondescript, uninteresting and often stolen recipes (sorry, my friend, but that’s the harsh truth!))
In my previous life, I was a music scientist and computational linguist — doing mainly speech recognition, speech synthesis and predictive text input, and I still do those projects occasionally. So far, I have done natural language development for 87 languages. Well, if you remember that ancient, robotic, Kraftwerk-sounding speech synthesis in very old Nokia phones, that was made by me! I’m still sorry about the bad quality, but back then, phones didn’t have too much memory and there was no cloud-based recognition, so we couldn’t use high-quality synthesis! Anyway, because my own health issues and interest in diets, I continued my studies with something completely different: nowadays I’m a Certified Nutritional Adviser and Certified Keto Coach. My latest English book, Low Sugar, So Simple was published on November 2017. I have also books in Finnish — and more coming!
On my journey from a strict raw vegan to a conscious omnivore, I have collected an extensive collection of hundreds of diet books and cookbooks, still relentlessly digging into new studies and old traditions. I love to read scientific papers — I want to know the truth how our bodies work and how different things, like nutrition, exercise and environment affect to our health. Before my Certified Nutritional Adviser and Certified Keto Coach studies, I was studying nutrition, different diets, and cooking for a few decades on my free time.
I have suffered from several ailments during my life: anemia, IBS (have my colon removed on 1999), panic disorder, depression, eating disorder, migraines, numerous infections, sugar cravings, joint pains, obesity, underweight, you name it! However, after I got seriously ill — having BMI only 12.7 and suffering from agonizing abdominal pain with no doctor being able to help — I had to take responsibility of my own health and study what would help me and first of all keep me alive. After extensive studying I found out that the really healthful food is something completely different what the official guidelines tell us.
I healed myself with a gluten-free, sugar-free ketogenic diet already over a decade ago — before people were even talking about the ketogenic diet. I’m nowadays completely healthy and full of energy. After recovering from that emaciated state, I even managed to become pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, who has been remarkably healthy all his life.
Based on my experiences and my nutrition therapy studies, I’m developing and sharing simple and healthful recipes with mouthwatering photos here on my blog and in my books, hoping to help other people live healthy lives full of energy and happiness. As an impatient and busy person myself, my goal is to develop recipes that are nutritious, with just a few ingredients and easy to prepare.
There is no one, certain diet that is perfect for everyone. Instead, you have to explore what is perfect for you. Everybody is an individual with individual needs. In Finland, I’ve been speaking in different events about the ketogenic lifestyle, and how to live genuinely healthy gluten-free and sugar-free life. On years 2016 and 2019, I was speaker in a well-being summit (Hyvinvointisummit) where I was talking about a keto-vegan lifestyle.
